SWABI, July 8: District Nazim Shahram Khan has warned the officials of district government departments of punitive action if they continue to fail to attend monitoring committee meetings.
Speaking at a National Commission for Human Development meeting, he expressed concern over the absence of some officials from the meetings.
“Not only the absent officials will be questioned about their non-availability but explanation will be also sought from them because whenever the officials do not attend the meeting, it creates problems for the district government,” he said.
“The officials and the district government should work like a team for the welfare of the people.”
He said that a detailed meeting with the officials of all the departments would be held soon to take them into confidence. “Such meetings will be convened each month to see the outcome and remove the drawbacks for future line of action.”
The nazim said that if the district government and officials jointly worked, the district could make progress and the prospects of solving the people’s problems would brighten.
He said that the district government would not impose any new tax in its annual budget and would continue to provide relief to the people.
Mr Shahram announced establishment of a four-bed hospital and construction of a waiting room in the Swabi judicial lock-up.
Speaking on the occasion, acting DCO Syed Amjad Ali Shah said that the district government had enough funds for the health and education departments and their financial problems would be solved soon.
