UN convention on workers’ age ratified

GENEVA, July 7: Pakistan on Friday formally handed over the instrument of ratification on UN’s Convention-138 relating to minimum age of workers to the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN Masood Khan handed over the document to Director General ILO Juan Somavia.

The Convention says the age of workers in different non-hazardous occupations should not be less than 14 years. With economic development this age limit can be increased.—APP
