MQM flays 2005 London bombing

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, July 7: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has condemned the London bombing incident of last year.

Federal Communications Minister M. Shamim Siddiqui, Housing Minister Syed Safwanullah and MNAs Kanwar Khalid Younas and Abdul Wasim wrote a letter to British High Commissioner Mark Lyall Grant, condemning last year’s attack by religious extremists on London’s transport system, resulting in deaths of scores of commuters.

“Today, when the people of the United Kingdom are remembering and recollecting last year’s tragedy, they should also count our party, sharing with those whose loved ones are no more in the world,” the letter said.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Younas said he wondered how the religious leaders who had not condemned the suicide attack in London and who castigated the West in the National Assembly over the killing of Al Qaeda leader Abu Mussab Al Zarqawi were being allowed to visit the city.

The MQM leader was apparently commenting on the expected visit to London by Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad and some other religious leaders.
