HYDERABAD, July 6: Police officials, including the Hyderabad DPO and the Site TPO, on Thursday denied in the Hyderabad circuit bench of the Sindh High Court allegations that they were harassing transporters in the city.
They said that they were only complying with the order of the high court passed in a civil revision application on September 24, 2004.
The Sindh additional advocate-general filed comments in response to a constitutional petition jointly filed by a group of bus operators, claiming that they had been restrained from operating their transport services under verbal orders of the Hyderabad district nazim.
Respondent police officials said that the court had passed the order in which Baldia and general bus stands were mentioned and buses were operating from there for Karachi and upcountry.
They said that the SHO of the Gulshan-i-Hali police station had restrained people from parking their vehicles on the main road.
They said that no harassment had been caused to transporters who were only asked to maintain the law and order and comply with the court order.
They said that an incident also took place on May 31 in which a minor boy lost his life for which a case was also lodged by police.
