KARACHI: Concern expressed over rising crimes in Malir


KARACHI, July 6: Malir Town Nazim Ansar Ahmed Shaikh has expressed his concern over the rise in the incidents of theft, robbery, dacoity, snatching of mobile phones, open availability of liquor and other anti-social activities in various areas of his town.

In this regard a meeting was held on Thursday with the town nazim in the chair. Police officers including all SHOs of Malir Town, UC nazims and naib nazims attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, the town nazim said that the coordination between police and the elected representatives was necessary to control the deteriorating situation of law and order in the town. He directed all UC nazims to ensure the registration of cases regarding these crimes in the respective police stations.

Mr Ahmed said that controlling of illegal activities was the responsibility of the police. He warned that action would be taken against the SHO concerned if new encroachments were found in his jurisdiction.

TMO Malir Town Mian Jamshed Inamullah assured the town nazim and UC nazims for his cooperation and directed the police officials to increase coordination with the elected representatives.

Meanwhile, the town nazim of Shah Faisal, Mohammad Imran, said that each union council of the town would be facilitated with a model park to provide recreational facilities to the area people.

He stated this during a visit to various UCs of the town. He was accompanied by Naib Nazim Ali Akbar, UC nazims, councillors and other officials. He directed the officials concerned to take necessary steps for the provision of basic civic facilities to the people and stressed the need for the promotion of parks and public places in the town.

The town nazim of Baldia, Kamran Akhtar, inspected the work of laying water pipelines in UC-4, 100 Quarter. Sub-engineer Water, DTO (Sanitation) Athar Saeed, Information Officer Rashid Mirza, XCN Water and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Akhtar said that the supply of clean water to the area residents was their top most priority. He ensured that soon drinking water in sufficient quantity would be provided to the residents.

The town nazim also visited the pumping station and inspected the machinery there. He directed the sub-engineer to provide a power generator at the pumping station as soon as possible, so that people of the area might not face water shortage.

SITE Town Naib Nazim Syed Badshah Khan held a meeting with the KWSB Chief Engineer Qutabuddin Sheikh and other officials concerned, to discuss issues of water scarcity in different parts of the town.

The meeting informed the KWSB officials about complaints of water shortage from different parts of the town and told them that water distribution system of Shanti Nagar was unsatisfactory.

The naib nazim also informed the KWSB officials that poor water supply system in affected areas might force the residents to take to streets.

He asked the officials concerned to restore supply of water to the affected areas at every cost.
