Asad, Iqbal shine

KARACHI, July 5: A superb century by Ali Asad and a six wicket haul by Ahmed Iqbal steered Zone-II to a four-wicket victory against Zone-I in the PCB Inter-district Under-19 Karachi region match on Wednesday.

Ali blasted 112 at almost run-a-ball as Zone-II reached their target of 207 in 56.2 overs.

Ali’s innings contained 15 fours and two sixes. Irfan Lodhi hit 57.

Earlier, Ahmed Iqbal claimed six wickets for 57 in restricting Zone-I to 206 in 84.1 overs.

Opener Fazal Subhan, who was batting on 77, went onto score 106 that guided Zone-VI to a close two-wicket win over Zone-V.

But Behram Khan was not to so lucky since his knock of 102 was unable to save Zone-III from a 28-run defeat against Z0one-IV.

Zone-II beat Zone-I by four wickets at KCCA Stadium:

ZONE-I 206 in 84.1 overs (Siddique Umar 70, Hafiz Asad 68; Ahmed Iqbal 6-57); ZONE-II 207-6 in 56.2 overs (Ali Asad 112 not out, Irfan Lodhi 57).

Zone-VI beat Zone-V by two wickets at TMC Ground:

ZONE-V 181 in 64.5 overs (Rashid Nawaz 45, Adnan-ur-Rehman 38; Ehteshamuddin 4-47, Mohib Ali 4-60); ZONE-VI 182-8 in 50.3 overs ( Fazal Subhan 106, Saad Surkhail 56; Osama Basharat 3-63, Adnan-ur-Rehman 3-49).

Zone-IV beat Zone-III by 28 runs at Pak Star Ground:

ZONE-IV 328 in 89.1 overs (Ali Jawwad 108, Imran Tariq 76, Mohammad Jawwad Khan 48; S.M. Zafar 5-67); ZONE-III 300 in 82.3 overs (Behram Khan 102, Arsalan Mir 67, Osama Shah 46; Shahbaz Khan 4-97).
