HYDERABAD, July 5: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has directed officials of the revenue department to submit a site plan for setting up food and grain markets of essential commodities like vegetable, fruit, fish and meat in the city.
Speaking at a meeting here on Tuesday, he said that Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim was taking a keen interest to boost up economic activities to provide one-window services to people.
Additional secretary (agriculture) Jafar Abbasi and officials of the agriculture department and the district government were present on the occasion.
The DCO said that two wholesale markets would also be set up in each mega city.
He said that in Hyderabad, 80 acres of land would be allocated for setting up a market in Qasimabad at a cost of Rs300 million.
He said that 50 acres of land would be reserved for vegetable, fruit, fish, meat, mutton and cold storage market and 30 acres of land would be utilized for food grain market.
He said that out of estimated cost of Rs300 million, Rs50 million had been allocated in the current budget to implement the project.
He said that the project would be completed within two years and would facilitate not only the people of urban area but also pave the way for business opportunities for the people of the rural area.
Jafar Abbasi told the meeting that the Sindh government had earmarked a huge amount for the implementation of projects of fruit, vegetable and meat markets in all big cities with a view to creating more job opportunities for the people.
The EDO revenue said that he had already identified government land available in Deh Seri of the Qasimabad taluka.
He said that the land would be included in the site plan and submitted to the competent authority for approval.
