KARACHI: Woman stages sit-in for missing sons

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 5: A woman from Turbat, 500 kms away from Karachi, staged a sit-in outside Karachi Press Club to seek justice as her two sons are missing and the family had been facing immense problems.

Bibi Shamsatoon, 70, who is leading the protest, with her two daughter-in-laws and two grandsons, has appealed to the government and human rights organisations to get her two sons released as they are neither member of any political organisation, nor they are wanted by agencies in any case.

Shamsatoon said her sons Gohram Saleh and Ibrahim Saleh were picked up on Aug 8, 2004, and Nov 29, 2005 from Mand and Karachi, respectively, for no fault, and the family had suffering as there is no other breadwinner in the family now.

She said she was not aware till today where her sons were being kept and for what crimes they were picked up by agencies. At this age, when she was unable to describe her agony and pain as a mother, she urged the authorities if her sons were guilty, they should be tried in the court of law or if innocent, they should be released forthwith.
