KARACHI, July 5: Sindh Education and Literacy Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro has ordered comprehensive revamping plan for colleges along with redeployment of teachers to improve the working of these institutions.

She issued the directive to this effect while presiding over a meeting of high officials of education department at her office here on Wednesday.

Secretary Education Syed Ghulam Ali Shah Pasha, Special Secretary Education Karim Bukhsh Sarohi, Provincial Education Manager Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, Additional Secretary Riaz Ahmed Memon were among those who attended the meeting.

The minister said that there were complaints that teaching staff in some colleges was in excess while in others there was a shortage.

Asking the provincial education manager to collect the data of colleges, teaching staff and other facilities available there, she directed him to come up with a redeployment plan of college teachers in order to rationalise the availability of teaching manpower.

Hamida Khuhro further directed the officials concerned to establish labs and provide books of science and encyclopaedia to the libraries. Besides, she said that sufficient office accommodation should be provided to the newly established directorate of colleges.—APP
