KARACHI, July 4: At least 60 cellphones and 26 vehicles were either stolen or snatched by the bandits in different parts of the city on Tuesday. Police said at least 24 mobile phones were reported snatched at gunpoint and 28 were stolen while eight cellphones were reported missing on Tuesday.
Police sources said six cars were snatched at gunpoint and six were stolen in different parts of the city.
At least seven motorcycles were reported snatched and seven others were stolen in different parts of the city. bandits killed: Residents of Gulshan-i-Iqbal killed a suspected bandit by beating him to death and critically injured his accomplice early Tuesday morning.
Police said five bandits had barged into a house in Rehmania Colony, Block 13-D/2. However, people caught hold of two of them and beat them so severely that one of them, Ali Akbar, died before he could be sent to hospital.
They also critically injured his accomplice identified as Shahid.
Police said three of their accomplices escaped.
In another incident, police shot dead a bandit and wounded his accomplice in an encounter in New Karachi on Tuesday.
Police said two armed men on a motorcycle snatched a cellphone and cash from complainant Mohammad Iqbal near the KESC office in Sector 11-I.
As they were fleeing, a police mobile reached the spot. On seeing the approaching police party the bandits opened fire at the police.
The police returned the fire killing Zubair and wounding his accomplice, Aziz Ahmed.
