KARACHI, July 4: Four ships carrying containers, diesel oil and iron ore were allotted berths at during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Tuesday. Meanwhile, six more ships to load and offload containers cement and chemicals, edible oil and furnace oil also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy rose to 89pc as nine ships were occupying berths to load and offload containers, rice, diesel oil, edible oil, sugar, wheat and iron ore.

A volume of 97,663 tons comprising 82,148 tons of import and 15,515 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing was also active as Sima Paya, Xiang Wan, Sealand Independence and Trust Spirit left the port while Oversea Harriette and Opal were due to depart.
