G.T. Road blocked to protest loadshedding

GUJAR KHAN, July 2: Hundreds of people staged a protest demonstration against loadshedding and blocked the GT Road here on Sunday.

The traffic between Lahore and Rawalpindi remained blocked for nearly an hour. The protesters were carrying banners and placards with slogans against Wapda and were demanding immediate end to the loadshedding.

Some of the protesters threw stones at the complaint office of Iesco but the organisers intervened and pacified them.

Syed Nadeem Abbas Bokhari, Raja Shauket Hayat and others said on the occasion that loadshedding during the sweltering summer was intolerable for the people of Gujar Khan and the adjoining areas.

They said children and old people were suffering more, therefore, authorities should bring an end to the loadshedding.— Correspondent
