KARACHI, July 2: A black man was spotted on Friday evening after office hours in the MQM International Secretariat when its doors were closed. During inquiry as he could not give a satisfactory reply for his presence in the secretariat, MQM Convener Dr Imran Farooq lodged a report at a local police station about the possibility of his entering the secretariat with the intention of a murder attempt on MQM chief Altaf Hussain.
According to a message faxed from London, Dr Imran Farooq also submitted a detailed report to the police chief commissioner of London, Sir N Blair. Expressing concern over the incident he had also informed the police commissioner about the report that a few days back a conspiracy was hatched to kill Altaf Hussain and to execute the plan some criminals were also sent to London. Before this, Scotland and British officials were also made aware of the conspiracy.
With the breaking of the news about entry of a suspected man in the MQM secretariat a wave of concern spread among party activists and supporters throughout Pakistan and in other countries and frantic calls were received at the MQM international secretariat from different cities in Pakistan, the US, Canada, Britain and the Gulf States inquiring about his health.
In Karachi there was a rush of phone calls, fax and email messages at the MQM headquarters, Nine-Zero, from people belonging to different walks of life inquiring about the well-being of Altaf Hussain.
In this connection, on Sunday special gatherings were held in Karachi and Azad Kashmir where prayers were offered for the security, health and long life of Altaf Hussain.
