Protest against police excesses

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, July 1: More than 100 people including women belonging to Baloch community staged a rally on Saturday from Lalchandabad to the press club to protest against the registration of a false FIR and arrest of their relatives.

Carrying banners and placards and wearing black armbands the protesters started their march with Niaz Baloch in their lead from Lalchandabad, made a stop in front of district nazim’s office and then moved ahead to the press club where they staged a protest demonstration.

Mr Baloch said that the police lodged a false at the behest of Zulfikar Junejo and Javed Junejo, landlords, against his relatives after they beat up Irfan Junejo, Javed’s munshi (manager).

Two cars injured some men when they drove through their localities, Gharibabad and Baloch Para in Lalchandabad, at dangerously high speed, he said.

Enraged people followed the cars and saw them parked in Javed’s bungalow. They rushed in and beat up the drivers and Javed’s munshi, he said.

In a short while, town SHO, Javed Chandio arrived there but instead of reprimanding the culprits he filed a false case of kidnapping Javed’s munshi against innocent Baloch youths, Mr Baloch complained.

He demanded that the DIG and DPO Mirpurkhas intervene and ask police to withdraw the case and ensure release of innocent men.

Mr Baloch demanded the chief justice of Pakistan order an inquiry into the incident and give them justice or they would be compelled to stage protest demonstration on July 3 when Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim paid visit to the area.

Police on Friday night lodged a case on the complaint of Ali Asghar Brohi under sections 105, 365, 452, 147, 148 and 149 PPC alleging that Yamin Baloch, Yar Mohammad Baloch, Zaman Baloch, Kalo Baloch, Mohammad Ali Baloch, Kashif Baloch, Basheer Baloch and four other unknown men entered Javed’s bungalow and kidnapped his munshi.

Town police have arrested Khan Mohammad Baloch, Yamin Baloch and Yar Mohammad Baloch.
