SUKKUR, July 1: Hundreds of residents of Tando Masti took out a protest rally and staged a sit-in on the Tando Masti bypass on Friday against deteriorating law and order condition in the area.
The protesters, led by Tando Masti Union Council Nazim Yar Ali Shah and others, took to the streets and chanted slogans against the police and marched on the main streets of the city and converged at the Tando Masti bypass and blocked the road for about an hour.
Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said that lawlessness was on the rise with the posting of SHO Ghulam Mustafa Mirani, while the criminals were at large.
They further said that theft cases were also on the rise since last one month, but police were doing nothing.
They demanded of the senior police officials to transfer the SHO and check the law and order situation in the area.
APPOINTMENT: Pakistan People’s Party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto has appointed Mushtaq Surhio as president of Sukkur district, and Dr Arshad Mughal has been appointed as secretary-general.
According to party sources, their appointment was made through a fax message, received here on Friday.
