THATTA, July 1: Commuters and transporters are facing hardships, inconvenience and damages to their vehicles as a construction company has dismantled the entire 25-kilometre Thatta-Sujawal highway for its rehabilitation and maintenance since the last couple of months.
Almost every day trucks, double-decker, long chasis trucks, new cars, pick-ups and other small vehicle are trapped or overturned on ill-planned highway.
The construction company instead of providing alternate diversions to facilitate smooth flow of transport, has mainly relied on kutcha tracks from Saeedpur to Sujawal.
Technical authorities of the construction company working in the area acknowledged that phase-wise carrying out of construction would have resulted in minimum problems to people.
Commuters complained that snail pace construction and breaking the entire road was not only causing hardships but also rapid damages to vehicles.
The area people have demanded that work on the Thatta-Sujawal highway should be expedited.
