By Our Correspondent

SWABI, July 1: The chairman of a UK-based charity, Muslim Hands, said here on Saturday his organization planned to set up a university in the Potohar region where deserving students from across the Muslim world would acquire modern education.

Sahibzada Syed Lakhte Hassanaian, who paid a two-day visit to the Swabi district, said educational institutions had been established for the poor in 22 Muslim countries.

He announced that they would establish three schools in Pakistan’s earthquake-hit areas where free modern education would be provided.

He said the charity had the largest network in Pakistan and 140 schools had already been set up in different regions of the country.

Answering a question, Sahibzada Hassanain said they had spent Rs800 million in 2005-06 in 42 Muslim countries, including Pakistan, for providing basic necessities of life and on welfare of Muslims.
