PESHAWAR, July 1: Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has installed a large number of transformers in its distribution system to keep up with the increase in power demand which has swelled from 1,800-MW to 2,100-MW.
According to a press release, the decision was taken to ensure smooth supply of electricity to consumers in prevailing scorching heat.
Pesco’s chief executive Brig Sakhi Marjan had directed the staff to streamline the distribution system, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to consumers.
He attributed frequent power interruptions on illegal use of electricity and illegal extension of load, especially in the peak hours of summer season.
The new transformers not only helps to maintain uninterruptible power supply but enable new areas to be electrified.—APP
