HYDERABAD: Legharis deny involvement in girl’s murder

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, July 1: The Nawab Association of Tajpur has categorically denied that any member of the Laghari Nawab family was involved in the murder of a minor girl of the Sadiq Gadu village and said that the FIR registered against the Nawabs on June 28 at the Tando Allahyar police station was absolutely false.

Speaking at a news conference at the Hyderabad Press Club here on Friday, Nawab Ghulam Rasool Laghari, Nawab Ghulam Qadir Laghari, Nawab Nasrullah Laghari, Nawab Tariq Laghari, Nawab Gulzar Laghari and others alleged that some hooligans were trying to destroy the peaceful atmosphere of Tajpur.

They said that Sadiq Gadu, Nando Gadu, Dhani Bux, Chakar Khan, Mohammad Gadu (Khaskhelis) were originally residents of mountainous areas and in order to hide their criminal past, they had settled on the lands of Nawab Azkar Khan near the railway crossing of Tajpur.

They said these people named their village as “Sadiq Gadu”. They claimed that Nawab Azkar Khan knocked the doors of the court and the occupation of his lands by these people was declared illegal.

They said that they also started harassing Nawab Nawaz Ali Khan Talpur, Nawab Sher Mohammad Khan Laghari and Nawab Allahdad Khan Laghari, whose lands were also forcibly occupied.

They alleged that a huge amount was paid to them to get the lands vacated. They accused the Gadus of loot and plunder.

They said that Rehan Leghari, Azkar Khan and Nawab Mansoor who had been nominated in the FIR were not even present in the village at that time.

They demanded that a superior court judge be appointed to make inquiries into the incident, a police picket be established at the Tajpur railway crossing and the Gadus who had many FIRs filed against them be put behind bars.

Tando Allahyar police arrested Nawab Hassan Nasir on June 29, who had gone to the police station to file an FIR, they said demanding that the revenue department be directed to conduct a survey of lands forcibly occupied by the Gadus.
