PESHAWAR, June 30: A councillor from the North Waziristan Agency has denied having held talks with President Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz or any other government official over the Waziristan issue and said he was a poor man and wanted to live peacefully with his family.
Addressing a press conference at the press club here on Friday, councillor Malik Hazrat Akbar said that he would not take part in any action against his own people.
He said that reports about his meeting with government officials were “false and fabricated”, adding: “My enemies want to defame me so that I am targeted in clashes and violence in Waziristan.”
He said that he would not become part of any plan which spelled disaster for his people, adding that he had devoted his life for preaching Islam.
He termed reports about his meeting with some government officials a propaganda ruse and said he would never do anything without consulting fellow tribesmen.
