Property tax payment notices

Published June 29, 2006

GUJRANWALA, June 28: The Excise and Taxation Department issued final notice to the residents of Qila Deedar Singh and Gakkhar Town on Wednesday for payment of outstanding dues till June 30, warning that their properties would be sealed if they failed to pay dues.

The residents, however, insist that the chief minister had remitted the property tax for both towns during his public meeting in Qila Deedar Singh a few months ago. They said the Punjab government had yet to issue any notification.

They said though the finance department was opposing the remission of property tax, they would follow the provincial government’s decision. They demanded that the chief minister should remit the property tax for the two towns and fulfill his promise.
