NAWABSHAH, June 28: Police have booked over 65 persons for power theft under section 29-A of the Electricity Act, here on Wednesday. Maqbool Ahmed, assistant manager of Hesco, Daur sub-division, lodged the FIR at Daur police station against 51 people including Rano, Fateh Mohammad, Umerdin, Shamsuddin, Aurangzeb, Ali Mardan, Haji Taj Mohammad, Raza Mohammad, Ali Asghar, Gul Mohammad and others stating that these persons were stealing electricity through kunda system and meter step in different feeders of the sub-division.
Khalid Hussain and Mevo Mal, line superintendents Hesco, Nawabshah, lodged two FIRs at A-section police station against 15 people including Mevo Khan Gopang, Rashid Hussain, Liaquat Ali, Mohammad Ibrahim, Ali Khan, Ghulam Nabi Burdi, Wah Mohammad Chandio and others.
No arrest was made till the filing of this report.
ROTATION: The Executive Engineer Dad irrigation division, Nawabshah, has announced a revised rotation programme due to shortage of water in main Rohri canal, here on Wednesday.
According to the programme, in group-I, Thul branch and its system (Mir Rukan minor), Pubjo minor, Sujawal minor, Rein distry and its system, Rahib Shah minor, Chanesar minor, Attur minor, Khair Shah minor and Khadhar minor would remain open from June 24 to July 1.
In group-II, Thul branch and its system (Malwah distry), Qazi Ahmed minor, Jado minor, Talhi minor, Kahkot minor, Manaharo minor, San minor, Rein distry and its system, Sakrand distry, Mangio minor and forest minor would remain open from July 1 to 8.
In group-III, Jamal Shah distry, Jan Mohammad minor, Waryam minor, Bilawal Zardari minor, Daleldero minor, Zardari minor, Shahbaz minor, Batho minor and Nukar distry would remain open from July 8 to July 15.
Residents of Razabad, Daur taluka, observed a token hunger strike and demonstrated against police atrocities, opposite local press club on Wednesday.
Led by Ali Murad Rind, a local trader the protesters were holding placards and raising slogans against Daur police.
He told newsmen that few days back, SHO Daur, Suleman Bhutto alongwith heavy contingent of policemen barged into his house and arrested his nephew Mohammad Irshad Rind, who was still missing.
He said that police were not ready to provide any information about him.
He informed that he filed an application before sessions judge and judicial magistrate raided at Daur police station but the police shifted him to an unknown place. He further said that SHO had threatened him of dire consequences.
He demanded of governor of Sindh, chief minister of Sindh and police high-ups to provide him justice and help in recovery of his nephew.
