CHITRAL, June 27: People of Mulkhow Tehsil took out a protest procession against the irrigation department’s indifference over the slow pace of work on the Atahk water channel. The procession led by Union Council Nazim Amir Khan Jalali started from the polo ground and ended in front of the district nazim’s office.

The protesters alleged that the department’s officials were supporting the contractor concerned, who had been paid Rs20 million despite not having started the work.

They said work on the site at an altitude of 10,000 feet could be carried out from June to September but the contractor was wasting time.
