LAHORE, June 27: The excise and taxation department would start issuing computerised number plates for vehicles in Lahore within a month. This was stated at a meeting presided over by Chief Secretary Salman Siddique here on Tuesday.
The meeting was told that the department had already got prepared over 797,000 computerised number plates, which had security features and could not be replicated.
The excise department secretary said extensive arrangements had been made in the motor registration office to facilitate people in getting the number plates where over 30 centres were established for the purpose.
The vehicle owners would submit their registration papers at these centres where data entries would also be made. The applicants would get their number plates, registration books and original documents at their given addresses within a specific period.
