60pc budget for salaries

BAHAWALPUR, June 27: District Nazim Tariq Cheema presented on Tuesday the district government’s Rs3406.5 million tax-free budget for the year 2006-07. This was the sixth consecutive annual budget presented by Tariq Cheema in the assembly.

The bulk allocation of Rs2282.2 million will be spent on non-development heads, including Rs 1962.2m on salary of district government employees.

Among the new projects, Cheema announced a dual carriageway from Fowara Chowk to Karachi Mor, Muhammadia Colony sewerage schemes, five parks in city, two mechanical sweepers and two degree colleges of special education.
