KARACHI: 50 cellphones, 23 vehicles taken away

KARACHI, June 27: Bandits took away at least 50 cellphones and 23 vehicles from different parts of the city on Tuesday. Police sources said that 22 cellphones were snatched at gunpoint while the same number of cellphones was reported stolen from different places of the city.

At least six cellphones were reported missing on Tuesday, police sources said.

At least five cars were snatched by bandits at gunpoint while seven cars were reported stolen from different parts of the city on Tuesday.

Police sources said that five motorcycles were reported snatched at gunpoint by bandits while six motorcycles were reported stolen on Tuesday.

ESCAPED: An under-trial prisoner escaped from the City Courts on Tuesday where he was brought for hearing by the jail police.

Police said that under-trial prisoner Sajid was under arrest in an FIR 297/2002 under Section 302 registered at the Ferozabad police station.

Police said the accused was unlocked so he could have his meal, but he escaped.

Following his escape, the said two policemen of the Karachi Central Jail were arrested and sent to the lock-up of the City Courts police station.
