NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, June 27: District Nazim Ghulam Rasool Jatoi on Tuesday presented Rs2197.778 million budget for year 2006-07 with a surplus amount of Rs16.598 million.
Salary expenditures stood at Rs1770.4 million whereas an amount of Rs364.086 million has been allocated for development.
Other expenditures are totalled at Rs186.284 million.
Allocations have been made for payment of gas supply line to Bhirya city, Tharushah, Khan Wahan and Tunia Baqa Shah.
Levy on property sale and exchange deeds has been reduced to 0.5 per cent from one per cent.
One time NOC fees for petrol pumps is fixed at Rs20,000.
About Rs10,000 yearly fee is levied on cotton factories and petrol pumps whereas hard board sheet factory will have to pay yearly fee of Rs50,000.
An auditorium, having a capacity of 800 people, fair centres and libraries in four talukas will be set up.
An amount of Rs1.8 million has been allocated for provision of motorcycles to government servants, Rs13 million for training of teachers, Rs600,000 for Hajj pilgrimage of six people.
Funds have also been kept for information technology, computer education expansion and for computers to all government offices including the DCO complex and network system.
The district nazim said that budget was prepared keeping in view expectations of people and efforts are made to create jobs and increase income to stabilise economy. Convenor Ali Khan Almani allotted two days for discussion on budget and approval.
Council members Farooq Lodhi, Ghulam Mohammad Abbasi, Sultana Khaskheli, Hashim Navel, Shahid Khattak and Gul Munir Rajpar welcomed the budget.
