HARIPUR, June 26: The district chapters of the parties in the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy have vowed to wage joint struggle for the restoration of democracy. In a meeting presided over by People’s Party Parliamentarians District Convener Sardar Abdul Rauf Khan, leaders of the PPP, the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and the Pakistan Democratic Party criticised the president and pledged to continue struggle for restoration of democracy.

They said that military dictators had ousted elected governments whenever the country had been put on the path of development and empowerment of the communities, which had led to backwardness and deprivation.

The meeting, through resolutions, demanded withdrawal of all the cases against former primer ministers Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif and letting them return to the country in a dignified manner, release of MNA Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, MNA Khawaja Saad Rafiq and Syed Yousaf Raza Geelani and end to military operations in Balochistan and Waziristan.
