KARACHI: Action against fancy number plates ordered


KARACHI, June 26: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi has directed all traffic police officers throughout the province to challan all vehicles and motorcycles with illegal fancy number plates.

He said if the same vehicle was again seen with fancy number plate, it should be locked up. He said that if the same vehicle appeared on road with fancy number plate for the third time, its owner should be locked up.

Under the garb of this fashion, most criminals tried to cover up their criminal activities, he observed

Rauf Siddiqi said that despite his previous warning, private vehicles were using prohibited police stickers, hooters and sirens, blue and red emergency lights. He warned their owners as well as police officials and personnel to remove the same from their private vehicles, otherwise, they would have to face strict legal action and even the vehicles could be confiscated.

Referring to the reports regarding death of over 80,000 heroin addicts and over six million being drug affected in the country, he directed TPOs, DPOs and SHOs for immediate elimination of drug trafficking, gambling and betting dens.—APP
