HYDERABAD, June 26: District Council Convenor Zafar Ali Rajput on Monday recommended action against officials of the district government for their continued absence from the council sessions.

He said that officials’ indifference indicated that they did not have any respect for the writ and dignity of the council.

Dr Arif Razmi rose on a point of order to draw the attention of the chair towards absence of district government officers.

He said that today again officers did not turn up in the session in spite of the fact that the chair had time and again given directives to them.

He said that it was tantamount to insulting the council and that only EDO (finance) Sharif Awan was attending the session.

The convenor agreed with Dr Razmi and asked the council officer to recommend action to provincial and district governments against these officials.

“The council officer must recommend stricter action against officers as envisaged in the Sindh Local Government Ordinance so that writ of the council could be enforced”, the convenor said.

Mr Rajput said that since there was power breakdown in the city on Sunday copies of budget and other documents could not be prepared for distribution among members and media.

He said that budget would be presented on Tuesday.
