QUETTA, June 25: Two rooms of a hotel on the Jinnah Road were damaged and a man was injured when four rockets were fired in different localities of Quetta on Sunday evening.

Police recovered one rocket which landed in the Manojan Road area but did not explode. The rocket was defused.

“Four rockets were fired at brief intervals from the western bypass side of the provincial capital,” a senior police office said.

According to police, the first rocket hit the rooftop of a house in the Nizami Line area, injuring a 70-year old retired gardener of the CMH, Quetta, Mohammad Firdous. Windowpanes of some other nearby houses were also smashed. The injured was admitted to the CMH.

The second rocket hit the hotel, damaging its two rooms.

Another rocket hit a wall of a house on the Manojan Road. However, no casualty was reported.

GAS SUPPLY: Supply of gas to Dera Bugti and adjoining areas was suspended on Sunday after a pipeline was blown up in the Dashat area, some 20km off the headquarters of the troubled district.

“It was a 16-inch diameter pipeline supplying gas to Dera Bugti from the Loti gas field,” official sources said.

The blast damaged a 10-foot-long piece of the pipeline, the sources said.

The repair of the pipeline would be started on Monday.

The sources said restoration of gas supply to Dera Bugti would take at least 24 hours.
