Newly-wed couple shot dead

By Rashid Javed

ABBOTTABAD, June 25: A newly-wed couple were shot dead on the order of a local jirga in the Phulra village in Mansehra. The girl, Nazia, of the Bagal tribe had married Arshad of the Mistri tribe recently with the consent of her parents.

However, the Bagal tribe was unhappy with the marriage, claiming that the name of the tribe had been sullied by the girl. It conspired to kill her and her husband.

As soon as the couple came to know about the conspiracy they decided to leave the village. While they were escaping, three Bagal tribesmen saw them and opened fire killing them on the spot. The Phulra police station registered an FIR against three tribesmen.
