KARACHI, June 25: A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death and his two associates were wounded on their refusal to surrender their cellphones in Korangi late Saturday night.

Police said Mehboob and his two friends, Ashfaq and Waseem, were heading home in Korangi 5, when unknown suspects on a motorcycle intercepted them and tried to snatch their cellphones.

On their resistance, the suspects attacked the three boys with a knife, seriously injuring Mehboob and also injuring Ashfaq and Waseem.

The injured were rushed to the Jinnah Hospital, where Mehboob was pronounced dead on arrival. His two friends were provided treatment.

TWO DROWN: Two young men drowned in the sea at Cape Montz on Sunday. Officials of the Rescue Centre of the city government said the drowning took place at around 7 o’clock in the evening when water was receding.

They said Umar Butt, 23, had come to the beach with friends. As he went into the sea, he was pulled away by the strong currents. Nearby another young man, Hasan Jawad, 27, witnessing the drowning attempted to rescue Umar.

Officials said Hasan was also swept away by the receding tides. Till the filing of this report their bodies had not been found.
