KARACHI, June 25: A Rs 400.042 million budget of Liaquatabad Town, showing a surplus of Rs 0.829 million, was presented by Town Nazim Osama Qadri at a press briefing here on Saturday.
In the budget, Rs 130.0133 million have been allocated for development, including Rs 20.45 million to be spent on construction and improvement of roads, streets and footpaths, Rs 10.13 million on parks, playgrounds and nurseries, Rs 10.87 million on improvement of street lights, Rs 6.8 million on restoration and repair of buildings and Rs 10.41 million on purchase of computers, furniture and other equipment.
The nazim informed that revenues to be received from City Government, Sindh Government and through own sources has been estimated at Rs 400.0368 million.
This includes District Octroi Tax share of Rs 250 million, share of property tax Rs 40.10 million, Rs 10.15 million as share of conservancy tax besides a revenue of Rs 2.350 million anticipated from contractor as water charges.
Osama Qadri said an income of Rs 20.50 million has been anticipated on account of road cutting charges while a grant of Rs 20.70 million is expected from Sindh Government besides Rs 7.3 million to be received under SDSSP. Nazim said that Rs 77,000 would be spent on development of libraries.
In his budget speech Osama Qadri said that when he took over the town had been facing a financial crisis and there were over Rs 30 million dues of the previous administration. He said looking at the situation, the tax recovery system was activated and concerned departments were.—APP
