Four hurt in D.G. Khan explosion

By Our Correspondent

DERA GHAZI KHAN, June 24: Four people were injured in a explosion that also destroyed a shop in a market here on Saturday. The explosion, in which four passers-by were injured, occurred at around 5:55am in front of a shop near the round market at Jinah Hall.

Another shop was partially damaged. The injured, including a child and a mentally-handicapped person, were taken to the DHQ Hospital.

Had the explosion occurred in normal working hours, the number of casualties would have been much higher because the place is a busy food sales point.

Police sources said the explosion was caused by a home-made device that contained around three kilogrammes of explosives.

It is the 15th sabotage activity in the district since Jan 2005.

The tehsil nazim Mehmood Qadir leghari expressed concern over the law and order situation in the district, especially in the urban union councils and said that the incident should be investigated but the focus of investigations should not be confined to Baloch insurgency.

The area, where the explosion occurred is near the office of the tehsil nazim.

District nazim Maqsood Khan Leghari and DCO Mehmood Qadir Leghari visited the hospital to see the injured people.
