Budget criticised

QUETTA, June 24: Opposition members on Saturday criticised the budget for 2006-07 fiscal year and said that without the powers of having a control over its resources the province would remain in financial crisis.

They said that the province would have to depend on the grants from the federal government.

Speaker Jamal Shah Kakar presided over the assembly session and adjourned it after lunch break owing to lack of quorum. In the morning session only 19 legislators were present.

Opposition members Abdur Rahim Ziaratwal and Marmen Spozmai of the PMAP, Shafique Ahmed Khan of PPP and Rehmatullah Baloch of the National Party said that Balochistan was facing a financial crisis owing to government’s policies and mismanagement.

They, while rejecting the budget, stressed the need to revise it in consultation with the opposition members.
