ISLAMABAD, Jun 24: The Sensitive Price Index for the week ending on June 22 for the lowest income group up to Rs3,000 registered 0.01 per cent decrease over the previous week.

The SPI for the week under review in the same group recorded at 142.83 as against 142.84 the previous week, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics.

The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100, covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.

During the week, average prices of 12 items registered decrease while those of 11 items increased, with the remaining 30 items' prices unchanged.

The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week included sugar, gram pulse washed, bananas, potatoes, masoor pulse washed, mash pulse washed, gur, vegetable ghee (loose), wheat, wheat flour (average quality), mutton and milk powdered (Nido).

The items which registered increase in their prices included tomatoes, chicken farm, LPG (11kg cylinder), egg (farm), onions, garlic, salt (powdered), beef, moong pulse washed, curd and red chillies powdered.

The items with no change in their average prices included rice basmati broken, Irri-6, bread plain (medium size), milk fresh, vegetable ghee (tin), mustard oil, cooking oil (tin), tea (packet), tea (prepared), cooked beef (plate), cooked dal (plate), cigarettes K-2, coarse latha, lawn, voil printed, shirting, sandal gents (Bata), sandal ladies (Bata), chappal sponge (Bata), kerosene, firewood, electric bulb (60-wats), match box, washing soap (nylon), bath soap (lifebuoy), gas charges up to 3.3719mmbtu, electric charges 1-100, petrol, diesel and telephone charges.—APP
