By Our Correspondent

ATTOCK, June 23: Mutahida Mehnutkush Muhaz (MMM) Attock on Friday expressed great concern over what it said harassment of low-paid employees of Attock railway station reportedly by the railway bureaucracy of divisional railway headquarter Peshawar division through transfers and other threats and asked the government to take note of it.

President, MMM, Rana Liaqut Ali Khan in a statement said that it had been learnt that the action had been taken in response to publication of a news regarding lack of facilities at the railway station.

It was malafide act as it had been taken soon after the appearance of public complaints. He said it also an indirect threat to the local journalist community on publication of the report.

Mr Rana asked the federal railways minister Shiekh Rashid Ahmed to hold inquiry into the situation besides withdrawing the transfer orders of low paid staff of Attock railway station.

PM likely to open Hazro utility store: Prime minister Shaukat Aziz is expected to visit Hazro during next few days to inaugurate the newly- established outlet of the Utility Stores Corporation (USC).

Sources said there was also a possibility that the prime minister would also speak at a public meeting.

Meanwhile, after receiving information about the expected visit of Mr Aziz, the district administration and the police had stepped up their activities to finalise the security arrangements.

In this connection, DSP Attock circle Chaudhry Abdul Ghaffar and officials of other law-enforcement agencies also visited Hazro to review the security plan.

It has been learnt that additional police force would be called in from the neighbouring districts to ensure foolproof security, as the strength of Attock police is not sufficient.

DIG’S VISIT: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Investigation Punjab, Chaudhry Tanveer on Friday paid a visit to Police Headquarters Attock to inspect the investigation wing of the district police.

He held a meeting with SP Investigation Syed Hussain Shirazi and DSPs investigation and discussed the official affairs.

Later, he also visited the Attock Saddar and Hassanabdal Saddar police stations. He inspected the lockups and listened to the accused detained at the police stations.
