SHIKARPUR, June 23: Leaders of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz have said that the Kalabagh dam and greater Thal canal will ruin the fertile lands of the province.
Addressing a large gathering on occasion of 8th death anniversary of late JSQM vice-chairman Abdul Qayoom Mangi on Thursday, JSQM chairman Basheer Qureshi, Abdul Wahid Arisar, Sagar Hanif Burdi, Riaz Chandio, Dr Niaz Kalani and Serai Qurban Khuhawar said the water projects were against the interests of the people of Sindh.
They said that Sindh was already in great troubles created by the rulers.
They said that the MQM was not sincere with Sindh and leaders of the party were misguiding people while raising hollow slogans to meet their political aims.
The JSQM leaders demanded that JSQM vice-chairman Dr Safdar Sarki and other JSQM leaders should be released.
They paid rich tribute to Mr Mangi for services he rendered for the people of Sindh and sacrificed his life for Sindh.
KILLED: A woman was gunned down by her brother when she was asleep in her house in Shaikh village on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Jamzadi, wife of Ali Hassan Shaikh.
Accused Hatim Shaikh escaped from the village after killing his sister.
The motive behind the murder is said to be karo-kari.
The New Foujdari police registered a case.
