KARACHI, June 23: A US national of Pakistani origin, who was booked for attempting to kill his former wife and brother-in-law in a bid to snatch his son from them in Defence last year, was remanded to police for interrogation by a judicial magistrate.

The case against Ghulam Mohammad Noori was registered by the Darakhshan police on October 14, 2005 under Section 324 on the complaint of his former wife, Fizza Rizvi. He was arrested on Thursday.

She had alleged that on Oct 7, 2005, she came out of her home in Defence to take her three-year-old son Abbas Noori to the school when her former husband pulled up in his car along with his four accomplices. He grabbed the child and attempted to escape. When Fizza Rizvi clung to the car and raised alarm, her brother rushed out of the house and managed to take the child back. Both of them, along with the child, ran into the house.

According to the FIR, Ghulam Noori and his accomplices fired several shots at them. However, none of them was wounded in the incident.
