KARACHI: All About Lifestyles event gets under way

KARACHI, June 23: A three-day exhibition, All About Lifestyles -- Summer 2006, packed with the brands promising pleasurable experiences, opened at the Expo Centre here on Friday.
According to a coordinator of the event, entry of people with their families picked up momentum in the evening when weather conditions became bearable. The organisers expect 60,000 to 70,000 visitors on Friday. The coordinator said that the number would go up further on Saturday and Sunday when the exhibition will remain open from 11am to 10pm.
Visitors said that the exhibition, being held for the 11th time, was a treat to be appreciated equally by all segments of society. “You get best product ranges, some at brilliant discounts, under one roof in a pleasant environment,” said a woman resident of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, at the exhibition. She said that moving through the exhibition was like experiencing shopping at malls and supermarkets.
The exhibition was inaugurated by City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal at about 3pm. He took round many stalls and appreciated the organisers’ efforts and skills.
There are about 160 stalls set up in four halls, where competitions and lucky draws have also been arranged. Fifty food outlets have been set up outside the halls.
In addition to the regular features of the All About Lifestyles, the organisers have arranged a Doll Show to be held on Sunday from 11am onwards. More than 1,500 dolls, from collectors’ edition to antiques, will be on display.
The event is a families-only exhibition and visitors have been advised to keep with them their ID cards and produce the same on demand during security checks.
