4 US soldiers killed in Afghan clashes

KABUL, June 22: Four US soldiers were killed and one was wounded in clashes with militants in northeastern Afghanistan, the coalition said on Thursday.

The four were killed on Wednesday during “combat operations and combat rescue operations” in Nuristan, it said in a statement. “Coalition forces attacked enemy extremists in a remote area of the Kamdesh district while conducting security operations to interdict enemy movement through northern Nuristan,” it said.—AFP
