People protest against load-shedding

By Our Correspondent

SWABI, June 22: The people of Serai and Gohati blocked the Swabi-Mardan road at the Gohati bridge for two hours on Thursday in protest unscheduled load-shedding in the area.

Residents of surrounding areas also joined the protest.

The protesters said the Pesco staff had resorted to prolonged load-shedding to victimise people on the pretext of power theft, while they had failed to take action against influential people stealing electricity.

They also criticised Pesco officials for imposing what they called unjustified fines on people. They said power supply remained suspended at night.

They called for immediate end to load-shedding.

The protesters ended the blockade after Pesco officials assured them that load-shedding would not be observed in the area.
