KARACHI: Service uninterrupted despite cable fault: PTCL

KARACHI, June 22: Despite a fault in the under-sea cable, the PTCL has ensured uninterrupted telecom services. An announcement to this effect was made by the spokesman of the PTCL here on Thursday.

He pointed out that the sub-marine cable (SMW 4) developed a fault at about 18 kilometre from the Karachi Cable station after which the customers were routed immediately via SMW 3 without any interruption.

The spokesman said that after consultation with SMW 4 Consortium and Network Operation Centres at Mumbai and Singapore, power reconfiguration was carried out by feeding power from the Mumbai Cable Station.

The entire traffic on SMW4 was restored within three hours while 100 per cent services were operational through the alternative media via SMW3.—APP/PPI
