KARACHI, June 22: The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation runs a regular programme of training doctors for postgraduate examinations in urology and nephrology for higher diploma.
This programme enrols doctors from all over the country and abroad, said an SIUT press release issued on Thursday, adding that so far foreign doctors trained at the Institute were from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Iran, Bangladesh, Sudan and Bahrain.
The SIUT faculty arranged a get-together to bid farewell to Dr Nazim Uddin, Dr Mohammad Arif and Dr Fahmida Begum from Bangladesh, as they were returning back after acquiring an MS in Urology and MD in Nephrology, respectively.
The Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Mohammad Abdul Hannan, the chief guest on the occasion, praised the good work being done at the SIUT.
He said that postgraduate training for doctors, especially from other countries, was a great service being delivered by the SIUT.
The training will raise the standards of education and bring both countries closer, the deputy high commissioner said.
Earlier, Prof Adibul Hasan Rizvi, the SIUT Director, welcomed the chief guest. He praised the doctors from Bangladesh.
“They were dedicated workers and had acquired knowledge in their respective fields of urology and nephrology,” Prof Rizvi said.
He also offered training for four postgraduate doctors from Bangladesh, mentioning that all expenses would be paid by the SIUT.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation has arranged a lecture, “Journey to FRS”, at the Deewan Farooq Medical Centre on Friday.
The programme is to honour Dr Attaur Rehman, Chairman, Higher Education Commission, organizers said.—APP
