KARACHI: Protection of forests stressed


KARACHI, June 21: The provincial government would evolve a strategy in the light of existing laws regarding protection of forests, wetlands and mangrove forests around the coastal areas of Sindh for their execution and implementation to get the required results.

This was stated in a meeting, chaired by Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman, held at his office on Wednesday. The participants of the meeting decided that a strategy would be evolved for implementation of existing laws and a summary would be sent to the authorities for approval.

The chief secretary directed forest and law departments to submit their reports within a week in this regard. Law Secretary Ghulam Nabi, Forest Secretary Mahmood Khan, IT Secretary Yahya Waliullah, and others attended the meeting.—PPI
