KARACHI: ATC discards deposition of witnesses

KARACHI, June 19: An anti-terrorism court in Karachi on Monday discarded testimonies of magistrates, who recorded confessional statements of two convicted activists of banned Harkatul Mujahideen Al-Alami in US Consulate car bombing trial, observing the same could not be declared admissible in trial against present accused as they were not tried jointly.

Naveedul Hasan, first declared absconding co-accused, is being tried for car bombing outside US Consulate in Karachi in June 2002.

ATC, headed by Judge Ghulam Ali A Samtio, discarding the evidence of magistrates fixed June 21 for hearing the closing arguments of Special Public Prosecutor and defence counsel.—PPI
