KARACHI, June 19: Some people were found in possession of fake letters for allotment of plot, which were neither printed by the Lyari Expresway Resettlement Project nor was their entry registered in the project office.
The scam came into light in a meeting held to review the progress regarding shifting of families affected by the Right of Way of Lyari Expressway Project. In the meeting, copies of such fake allotment letters were also presented.
The project officers immediately reported the matter to the TPO and police station concerned and the same is under investigation to nab the elements involved in the forgery.
It was pointed out that the plots developed in Taisar, Baldia and Hawksbay Resettlement sites were reserved only for such families who came under the right of way and whose houses were demolished. It was pointed out that the list of such shiftees was prepared only by the revenue department of city government. It was made clear that any person, who is not enlisted, neither has any privilege over the plot nor any department, including the resettlement project, has the authority to give allotment to him/her.
The meeting takes place every week under the chairmanship of Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town Nazim Wasey Jalil to review the progress of work of shifting of families and acquisition of the right of way.
The meeting is attended by the Resettlement Project Director, revenue official and chairmen of local union councils of respective areas and city government officials.—APP
