Jawan Bakht posts facile win to land feature event

By Anwar Zuberi

KARACHI, June 18: In a repeat performance, fancied four-year-old bay colt, Jawan Bakht, obliged punters when he sprinted to victory to claim feature event in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

With a win under his belt in the last outing on June 4, he posted a facile five length triumph with Abdul Rahim astride, to justify top billing by making it two in a row.

Arab Hi Arab finished second while Jadugar had to be content with third place. Moon Raker completed the frame.

Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara ended the day with a fine treble. His first success came in the opening race when three-year-old chestnut filly, Abhi Abhi, was home by five lengths with Fahim K in the saddle.

Ridden by M. Nasir, mare, Ultimate Victory, then did his owner proud by grabbing the fourth race.

This was followed by filly, Butter Fly, triumph by nine lengths in the sixth race.

Trainer Mian Asif and Allah Judrio also shone by sending a brace of winners, so did jockey Fahim.

Making amends, Dr Abdul Karim’s fancied dark bay horse, King Of The Field, beat mare, Taneez, by neck in a close contest to land the third race.

Eight-year-old bay horse, Deniro, presented to his owner with a winner lowering the colours of favourite filly, Queen Of Mirwa, in the fifth race.

Syed Kamal Sohail’s Puma King pulled off the biggest upset of the day when he outclassed chestnut colt, Johnnie Walker, by two lengths to pick up the concluding event.
