KARACHI: Saarc should use media to promote ties, says CM

KARACHI, June 18: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that Pakistan is a strong supporter of long-lasting peace in South Asia which is not possible without a peaceful settlement of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.

He was speaking at a reception hosted by him in honour of the visiting delegation of South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA) at the CM’s House, said a statement issued here on Sunday.

The chief minister said that lasting peace in South Asia could not be achieved till the Kashmir issue was resolved through mutual understanding.

Dr Arbab said that President General Pervez Musharraf was keen to see peace in South Asia and friendly relations among all Saarc member states.

He said President Musharraf had extended the hand of friendship towards India at the Agra summit because Pakistan wanted friendly relations with all its neighbours.

The chief minister also pointed out that there were great opportunities for joint ventures among South Asian countries in different fields.—APP
